Who the hell is Adam Lewis and why would you want to go on tour with him?
I used to say that my background was as a British Championship road racer (12yrs) and Clubman enduro rider (3yrs), but I’ve now been traveling and riding Adventure bikes for just as long.
I spent 6-years riding around the world before returning to the UK and riding to Magadan (Far Eastern Russia)…and back.
As my RTW trip came to an end, I joined Blazing Trails Tours as Operations Manager Asia, leading motorcycle tours in India & Nepal; specialising in the High Himalaya. My 52, 2-week tours equating to a further 2-years on the road. During my time between tours I rode the length and breadth of both countries on my 4-speed Royal Enfield Bullet…slowly.
Equally(!?) at home in the workshop, I’ve prepared and maintained my own bikes since the age of 16.
I am delighted to be credited with pioneering Tajikistan’s now popular Bartang Valley route, along with the first crossing by motorcycle of Kyrgyzstan’s Tosor Pass (both 2013).
My travels are chronicled on my popular website – www.shortwayround.co.uk
In 2014 I became the first non-Indian motorcyclist to ride solo in North Sikkim, whist carrying out a recce for Blazing Trails Tours, and in 2016 led the first non-Indian motorcycle tour into North Sikkim and Zero Point, overlooking the Tibetan Plateau.
I’ve learned a thing or two in that time and now enjoy sharing that knowledge here at Big Sky Riders.
When I’m not twisting a throttle I can generally be found pedaling. As a keen cyclist, Mountain Biker and Bikepacker I’ve traversed the High Himalaya, Spain and Wales and toured Vietnam. My travels have given me a fabulous chance to indulge in my schoolboy hobby of photography.
